How to Reach Nachiketa Tal

Getting to Nachiketa Tal is an adventurous experience. You drive through quaint villages, pine-covered valleys and zigzagged winding roads of Uttarkashi. Here’s how:

By Road

The nearest big town is Uttarkashi, 29 km away. Uttarkashi is connected by bus or taxi to Rishikesh (155km), Dehradun (190km) and Haridwar (180km). From Uttarkashi, you can hire a cab or a local jeep to go to Chaurangi Khal, which is the starting point of the trail. The last 3km to the lake is a beautiful forest walk with bird songs and fresh air.

By Train  

The nearest railway station is Rishikesh Railway Station, which is 170 km from Uttarkashi. One can take trains to travel from Delhi or other big cities to Rishikesh, then drive to Uttarkashi.

By Air  

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, about 190 km. From here, you can take a taxi to Uttarkashi and make a short drive to the base of the trails from there.
